Alex Deaton pleaded guilty in Neshoba County Circuit Court this morning to the February 2017 death of a woman cleaning a rural Baptist church.

Deaton pleaded guilty to the Feb. 23, 2017, murder of Brenda Pinter, 69, as she arrived to clean the Dixon Baptist Church that afternoon. Her body was found inside the church.

Deaton, 30,  pleaded with sentencing to include life in prison.

In August, Deaton pleaded guilty in Rankin County to strangling his girlfriend along with a drive-by shooting last year that launched what authorities say was a series of violent crimes in three states separated by nearly 2,000 miles.

Deaton acknowledged that he strangled girlfriend Heather Robinson to death in February 2017, stole her SUV, and then shot and wounded a jogger near Robinson's home. Rankin County Circuit Judge William Chapman sentenced him to life in prison.

He went on to commit a series of crimes out West until he was apprehended.
