A Union man who allegedly stole a vehicle and fled the scene of a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 19 South in Tucker has been identified by authorities.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Sergeant Andy West said Jacob Dove, 26, of 10651 Rd. 351, is the suspect in the auto theft, but he remains at large and has not been taken into custody.

Dove allegedly drove off with a bystander’s vehicle after the bystander stopped to help with the accident.

“Apparently, a good Samaritan stopped to help out with the accident, and the driver that caused the accident stole the bystander’s vehicle,” Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell previously told The Neshoba Democrat.

Waddell said the stolen vehicle is a grey Chevrolet Impala with a Dallas Cowboys sticker on the back.

Waddell said Dove is wanted by his probation officer, which could explain why he stole the vehicle and fled the scene.

In July and January 2018, Dove was arrested and charged with violations of his probation.
