Two people have been charged with attempted murder in connection with separate shootings which occurred over the weekend in the western section of the city.

Malik Hoskins, 17, was charged with two counts of possession of a stolen firearm and one count of attempted murder following a shooting Saturday night at the intersection of Martin Luther King Dr. and Atkins Street.

The victim, who was shot twice, was treated and released from the hospital, Chief of Police Grant Myers said.

In a separate incident, Jaylon Talley, 18, was charged with one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling and Jeremy Brown, 26, was charged with two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and one count of attempted murder.

The shootings occurred at houses on Loper, Adams and west Walnut streets, where a female was struck at a residence. She was treated and released from the hospital.

Chief Myers said investigators executed a warrant to search a house on Loper Street where two assault rifles and a handgun were recovered.

“This investigation is early on and we do expect more charges,” he said. “Anyone with knowledge about these shootings should come to the police department and give a statement.”
