The Neshoba Central soccer teams have all but wrapped up first place finishes in Region 3-5A.

Both teams defeated two region opponents last week and are undefeated in region play with 3-0 records. They still have to play Cleveland this week in the final region game.

In games played last week, the Lady Rockets defeated Cleveland Central 13-0 and Canton 15-0. The Neshoba Central boys stopped Cleveland Central 1-0 and Canton 6-1.

The Mississippi High School Activities Association has pushed the start of the soccer playoffs back to February 5. That will give teams across the state a chance to make up games that were postponed due to the weather. Coach Jamey Madison said the Rockets would be trying to schedule some games next week so they can stay active.

“This is a great accomplishment for our program,” Madison said. “Both teams will be able to host a first round game. That will be a first.”
