MARCH 5, 1948

Mississippi Epsilon Epsilon chapter of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Mississippi State is proud to announce the invitation of seventeen new members. The new members presented their pins by Dean L.L. Patterson, Dean of the School of Engineering.  Among the initiates were Bobbie Bassett of this city. Bobbie is the son of Mrs. C.L. Bassett and grandson of Tax Assessor, J.B. Bassett.

FEB. 27, 1958

The following is an item appearing in the “Picayune Item”, the newspaper in Picayune, concerning Mrs. Katherine Moak Furr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wade H. Moak of Philadelphia. Mrs. Furr, a native of Neshoba County, attended Shady Grove High School and Mississippi Southern. She has been a teacher of business education in Picayune for nine years.

FEB. 29, 1968

Carolyn King and Andy Yates have been selected as members of the 1968 Lions All State Band. Carolyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen King and is the first chair alto saxophone in the Philadelphia High School Band. Andy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gully Yates and is first chair clarinet in the band. The band will play in Dallas, Texas, during the Lions International Convention.

FEB. 23, 1978

Ann Lashley Smith, daughter of Mrs. Charles Lashley of Philadelphia and wife to Ted Smith and mother to their two children, Gingi, 13, and Tim, 10, was crowned Valentine Queen in recent festivities at the Timbers club house in Jackson, Tenn.
