A Philadelphia man was charged with murder late Saturday night after an apparent domestic dispute left another dead in a house on Hopson Avenue, the authorities said.

It was the second murder reported in the city in two days.

Demetric Gray, 33, of 242 Gum St., was charged with murder and domestic violence/aggravated assault. He was taken into custody after 11 p.m.

The name of the victim, a Georgia resident, was withheld pending notification of family members.

Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a break-in at a house on Hopson shortly before 11 p.m., Chief of Police Grant Myers said.

"When officers arrived they heard a female screaming and found her lying in the floor with a knife in her arm," Myers said. "Another victim, a male, was found nearby on the floor with multiple knife wounds."

The male was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was airlifted to the University Medical Center.

Gray was found a short time later hiding in a ditch behind the residence where he was apprehended, Myers said.

"He was taken to the jail and charged," he said.
