A Georgia man has been identified as the victim in a Saturday night murder at a house on Hopson Avenue, which authorities said, stemmed from an apparent domestic dispute.
Zuave Vennard Trice, 40, of 6774 Brown Mills Lake Road, Lithonia, Ga., was pronounced dead at the scene about 11:43 p.m., county medical examiner Allen Collins said.
He had been stabbed, Collins said.
Demetric Gray, 33, of 242 Gum St., was charged with murder and domestic violence/aggravated assault. He was taken into custody after 11 p.m.
It was the second murder reported in the city in two days days.
Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a break-in at a house on Hopson shortly before 11 p.m., Chief of Police Grant Myers said.
"When officers arrived they heard a female screaming and found her lying in the floor with a knife in her arm," Myers said. "Another victim, a male, was found nearby on the floor with multiple knife wounds."
Trice was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was airlifted to the University Medical Center.
Gray was found a short time later hiding in a ditch behind the residence where he was apprehended, Myers said.
"He was taken to the jail and charged," he said.
