A Friday morning stabbing death in the Pearl River community and a report of unconfirmed shots fired in the Bogue Chitto community are under investigation by officials with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

"Bogue Chitto Elementary School Principal took precautionary measures and placed the school on lockdown until he confirmed with law enforcement that a lockdown was not needed," Misty Brescia Dreifuss, Director of the Office of Public Information for the Tribe, said in a press release.
