About 20 stores and restaurants will be open Sunday afternoon during Philadelphia’s annual Holiday Open House which will feature caroling around the courthouse by the Fair City Chorale.

Open house will be from 1 to 5 p.m.

“The weather is going to be good so everyone should come on out and shop our local businesses,” said Main Street Director Tim Moore. “This will be a great opportunity to see what the stores have to offer this holiday season.”

Many of the merchants are planning special sales promotions.

Participating stores include Kademi, Steve’s on the Square, Dixie’s Gypsy Boutique, Southern Mess, Jewelry Just 4 Fun, The Clothesline, Faye's, Added Touch Flowers and Gifts, Yates Building Supply, MG & Company, Uptown Flowers & Gift Market, Goodness & Grace Beauty Bar and Square Peg Mini Mall.

Moore encouraged shoppers to dine at the local restaurants participating in open house including CrisMont Creations, Old Mexico, Taste & See, Marty’s Blues Cafe, City Limits and Sonic.

The Philadelphia Main Street Association has also released the dates of other holiday events including the annual Christmas parade on Dec. 4 beginning at 6 p.m.

The theme of the parade is open.

In conjunction with the parade,  Main Street will sponsor a window decorating contest for merchants and businesses.

Judging will take place on the night of Friday, Dec. 1. Winners will be announced during the parade.

Moonlight Madness returns to downtown Philadelphia on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Merchants will be open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with special sales promotions just in time for Christmas.
