Alisa Burkes, a member of the Neshoba County School Board, resigned last week during a meeting of the board, saying she has moved from the county.

Burkes, who represented District 1, notified members of her resignation in a letter.

She told members that she had "thoroughly enjoyed" her time working with the district and each of them as well.

"It has been a rewarding experience, as well as a learning experience," she said in the letter.

The reason for her resignation was because of her no longer being a resident of Neshoba County.

Her resignation is effective April 29.

The board accepted the resignation unanimously.

This is the second board resignation this year.

In January, Jewel Parks resigned because she had moved to a new home inside the city limits.
