A traffic stop on Highway 19 North Saturday led to one man being charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and a second man being charged with possession of marijuana.

Kadeem Thomas, 25, 128 Hill Crest Circle, Louisville, was arrested along with Shaquille Shoemaker, 22, 1846 Greenboro Road, Louisville, after their vehicle was stopped on Highway 19 North by Philadelphia Police and a search turned up a quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.




Thomas was charged with possession of methamphetamine and cocaine with intent to distribute. Shoemaker was charged with possession of marijuana.

According to Police Chief Grant Myers, the two individuals attempted to elude a roadblock set up by officers. Officers then made contact with the two suspects and the officers were able to smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search turned up a quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine consistent with drug sales.

Myers said Thomas had 16 grams of meth, 1.5 grams of crack cocaine and around 55 grams of marijuana were also found.

Myers said PPD was assisted by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.

• Officers are also looking for a white female who allegedly robbed a convenience store on East Main Street Friday around 9:30 a.m.

According to Myers, the woman entered the business brandishing a firearm and took an undisclosed amount of money. Anyone with information regarding the robbery is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 855-485-8477.

• A firearm was reported stolen Saturday from a home in Robinhood Circle.
