Calvary Apostolic Church on Eiland Avenue in south Louisville was totally destroyed in the storm.

"Everything is gone," said Philadelphia Mayor James A. Young, who pastors the church. "It was blown away, down to the foundation. It didn't leave a wall standing."

Two vans were parked near the church.

"It took one church van a block away and left it in the street. The other van was left sitting where we had parked it. They were parked side by side. It's just strange. One was taken away and the other was still sitting there."

Young said another church in the vicinity, Valley Baptist, was also destroyed as well as an apartment complex. A large portion of the old Georgia Pacific facility was destroyed, he said.

"It was destructive," he said. "You talk about it and see it on TV. I am just so glad I was not even in the area."
