The Library's first Adult Summer Reading Program in years begins the week of June16. Details about the Mybrary game can be obtained at the Philadelphia - Neshoba County Public Library. Players will be entered into drawings for free books, Depot Family Fun Center game cards, and the winner of the contest will receive a Kindle Fire, made possible by the Friends of the Neshoba County Library.
The Voice of the Fourth
A vocal competition for all ages will be held at 6 p.m. on June 28 at the old Lena school building. The cost to enter is $20 for individuals and $40 for groups. All proceeds from this family friendly event will benefit the Lena Fourth of July Celebration. Come be a part of the very first Voice of the Fourth! The following programs will be offered at the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Library in the upcoming days. We would greatly appreciate their inclusion in the next edition of the Neshoba Democrat:
Library University June 19 (3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
Come and learn how to access our collection of over 1,200 e-Books. Patrons may bring their own devices, but the library's computers will be available as well. Refreshments will be served.
Free Basic Photography Class (June 19 through July 17-Meeting Weekly on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
Steven Thomas of The Neshoba Democrat will be the featured presenter for Sights of Summer: Building Photography Basics. The program will be conducted over the course of five weeks for the amateur photographer who wishes to enhance their ability to take good photographs. Patrons will need to provide their own cameras. Selected photographs taken by the participants will be displayed in the library. Refreshments will be served.

The First United Methodist Weekday Children's Ministry Program open enrollment for Preschool and Toddler Classes (ages 2-4 years) until July 4. We have a few spots available now. For more information call (601)656-1417 or come by and fill out a registration form.
Small Engine Repair Class
Instruction in small engine repair, including the theory of operation, carboration, ignition systems, and internal engine components, is being offered at the East Central Community College Productivity Enhancement Lab located at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career-Technical Center.
Classes will be held on eight consecutive Thursdays beginning on July 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. Gary Sanford will be serving as instructor.
Cost of the class is $150.

A two-day ServSafe Food Safety Certification class will be held in Philadelphia in the Neshoba County Coliseum multi-purpose room on Aug. 13 and 14. Registration deadline is July 11. For more information and to obtain a registration form and the 6th Edition ServSafe Book, contact the Neshoba County Extension Service office at 601-656-4011.
Individuals who require special accommodations to participate should contact the Extension Office to make their request known prior to the program. Contact should be made timely to ensure appropriate accommodations.
High Hill Baptist Church will host Uncle Pug's Bluegrass Band in concert on Sunday, June 22 at 6 p.m. Rev. Don Cook, pastor, and Mike Barker, music director, invites the public to attend. A love offering will be accepted. For more information call (601) 625-9978.

John Robert Irby
Benefit auction for John Robert "JR" Irby will be held on July 19 beginning at 11 a.m. at Ford's Store on Highway 16 East. Pulled pork plates will also be sold for $10. Please donate items for the auction. Drop off items at Ford's Store before the day of the auction.
NCHS Class of 1964 50th Reunion
The Neshoba Central High School Class of 1964 will have a 50-year class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center located at Northside Park. Singing School and Convention
An old-fashioned Christian Harmony shape-not singing convention with dinner on the grounds will be held in Decatur on Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church which is eight miles north of Newton. Two days before the convention, traditional singers will conduct a singing school in the evening from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 and Friday, June 20. Memorial Day at Sand Hill
Memorial Day at Sand Hill in the Arlington Community of Neshoba County will be held Sunday, June 22. Worship service at 11 a.m. followed by pot-luck dinner in the fellowship hall. Fellowship Baptist Church VBS
Fellowship Baptist Church will host their vacation Bible school beginning Wednesday, June 18 to Friday, June 20 from 6-8 p.m. Come join us for stories, fun, crafts, games and snacks. All ages are welcome. The church is located on Highway 21 South. 1 Peter 3:15.
The youth of Neshoba Baptist Church will be continuing their rummage sale at the Treasure Den in Union on June 21 at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Everything must go. Make an offer. Fill a bag $3.
Blood Drive for Mike Wilcher with MS Blood Services. Mike has a rare blood disorder that requires him to have a tremendous amount of blood. The drive is scheduled for Thurs. Free Summer Meals
Youth Development and Education Center, Inc. is proud to announce that we will be sponsoring a Summer Food Service Program beginning June 2 through Aug. 8, at Providence M.B. Church in Philadelphia. These nutritious meals are provided thru USDA guidelines. Breakfast will be served from 8-9:30 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is a summer meals program provided without charge to school age children up to age 18. There will be no discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. This is a community based project scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. everyday which plans to also include educational and recreational activities of reading, tutoring and some physical activities. Calling all seniors to come out on Tuesday nights at 5 p.m. for some bingo fun at the Northside Park Senior Citizens building. There is only a $2 admission. Refreshments will be served. This is for ages 55 and up!

NESHOBA COUNTY Youth Football and Cheer
Neshoba County Youth Football and Cheer is offering early bird registration beginning Feb. 28 and ending July 12. Cheer registration will be $85 as opposed to $100; includes a complete uniform. Five and 6 year old tackle is $40 as opposed to $50. Seven to 12 year old tackle is $50 as opposed to $65. After the July 12 deadline all Early Bird prices will be void and registrants will be required to pay the regular in season fee. A copy of a live birth certificate is also required of each registrant. Neshoba County Youth provides game jersey and game pants for all football season which is to be returned at the end of the season. A lunch is also provided on in-season away games for every child that is a part of cheer and tackle. There is an End of Year Banquet where awards for each child are provided during the banquet.
