Private Applicator Certification class

A Private Applicator Certification class will be taught on Thursday, Jan. 11, beginning at 4 p.m. in the Neshoba County Coliseum multi-purpose room.

   The class is for individuals wishing to obtain private applicator certification for the first time and those who need to renew or reinstate their certification.

The cost for the class is $20 and it is payable the day of the class.  Contact the Extension Service office at 656-4602 for more information  

Individuals who require special accommodations to participate should contact the Extension office to make their request known prior to the program.  Contact should be made timely to ensure appropriate accommodation.



WINDDOWN

WEDNESDAYS AT THE LIBRARY

Kids are invited to stop by the Neshoba County Public Library each Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30 for its after-school program, WindDown Wednesday.

NCHS CLASS OF 1988 REUNION

The Neshoba Central High School Class of 1988 will celebrate its 30th year class reunion on June 23  from 7 p.m. until midnight at Bridges, The Venue in Philadelphia.  

Dress is casual. Your meal and entertainment will be provided. Tickets are $50 a person or $75 for a couple.

NESHOBA COUNTY

 GENERAL HOSPITAL BLOOD DRIVE

Mississippi Blood Services will be at the Neshoba County General Hospital Thursday, Jan. 11 from 9 a.m.  to 4 p.m.

All donors will receive a T-Shirt. Please bring ID. MBS suggests that all donors eat at least fours hours within giving blood and drink plenty of fluids prior to and after making a donation. For more information please call (888) 90-BLOOD.



DONATIONS NEEDED FOR MARS HILL CEMETERY

Mars Hill Cemetery located at Mars Hill United Methodist Church, County Road 729, is seeking donations for the renovation and upkeep of the cemetery. Immediate project is replacement of the fence. DANCING RABBIT

SOCIETY TO MEET

The Dancing Rabbit Genealogical and Historical Society will meet on Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. at the Carthage-Leake County Library.

This meeting will be a business meeting only to close out 2017 and to begin 2018. There will not be a guest speaker for this meeting. They will resume with our regular schedule in February.  





Master Gardener Class

The Master Gardener training program begins in Neshoba County on Feb.  20 from 1 to 5 p.m. and continues each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon through March 27.

Classes are interactive via distance education on soils, weed science, insects, plant propagation, fruits, nuts, and vegetable gardening taught by Mississippi State University horticulture instructors and specialists.

Classes finish in time for spring gardening projects to begin. The cost of enrolling in Mississippi’s Master Gardener program is $100.

ServSafe Food

Protection Manager

 Certification

 The ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification course is good for food service and childcare employees.

The Mississippi Food Code requires that each licensed establishment have one certified food safety manager employed full-time. Because food impacts everyone, the need for training and safe food preparation is increasing.

The Mississippi State University Extension –Neshoba County will offer the ServSafe course Jan. 31 from  8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the coliseum’s multi-purpose room. ServSafe requires a 7th edition manual. The certification exam will be administered at 3 p.m. on the day of the training.

 To enroll in this course, participants must register no later than Jan. 10  in the county Extension office, 12000 Highway 15 north, Suite 2 inside the coliseum.

Neshoba County Shooting Sports News for the 2018 Season

 The Neshoba County 4-H Shooting Sports Club registration will be Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Neshoba County Coliseum.  Open Enrollment to youth ages 8-18.  Competition categories include: Rifle (Air and .22 Rifle), Pistol (Air & .22 Pistol), Archery and Shotgun.  

Registration fees apply and vary based on shooting discipline!  Club T-shirts will be designed and made available to member participants, family and volunteers for a small fee.  If you’re unable to attend the registration, please call to coordinate a time to register.  Call the Extension 4-H Office at 601-656-4011 for information.

MT. ENON M.B. CHURCH REVIVAL

The Mt. Enon M.B. Church in the Dixon community will be hosting a renewing revival January 22-24, at 7 p.m. nightly.

 The evangelists will be Dr. Johnny Barnes and the Providence church family on Monday night, Rev. Harold Coburn and the Morning Star Church family on Tuesday night, and Rev. Sylvester Hampton and the St. Paul Church family on Wednesday night.
