Department to Host “Father/Daughter Valentine Dance”

 The East Central Community College Choral Department will host a Father/Daughter Valentine Dance Friday, Feb. 9 on the Decatur campus.

The event will feature a Princess Theme for ages five and up and will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Mabry Memorial Cafeteria.

 The cost is $30 per couple and if a father has more than one daughter, it is an additional $5 per child.  Light refreshments will be included.

The Dancing Rabbit Genealogical & Historical Society will meet on Feb. 14  at 1  p.m. at the Carthage- Leake County Library. Visitors are welcomed.  



GOD'S TABERNACLE CHURCH REVIVAL

 Revival will be held at God's Tabernacle Church Sunday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. and Monday through Thursday, Jan. 29 through Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. with different a different speaker each night.  The church is located at 392 Loper St.  Rev. Mark Smith is the pastor.

FUNDRAISER

Linwood Fire Department will have its annual fundraiser on Feb. 3 starting at 11 a.m. There will be an auction at 1 p.m.

Chitterlin’ and  pulled pork plates will be sold for $10 each.

NCHS CLASS OF 1988 REUNION

The Neshoba Central High School Class of 1988 will celebrate its 30th year class reunion on June 23  from 7 p.m. until midnight at Bridges, The Venue in Philadelphia.  

Dress is casual. Your meal and entertainment will be provided. Tickets are $50 a person or $75 for a couple.

DONATIONS NEEDED FOR MARS HILL CEMETERY

Mars Hill Cemetery located at Mars Hill United Methodist Church, County Road 729, is seeking donations for the renovation and upkeep of the cemetery.Immediate project is replacement of the fence. STORY TIME

Master Gardener Class

The Master Gardener training program begins in Neshoba County on Feb.  20 from 1 to 5 p.m. and continues each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon through March 27.

Classes are interactive via distance education on soils, weed science, insects, plant propagation, fruits, nuts, and vegetable gardening taught by Mississippi State University horticulture instructors and specialists.

Classes finish in time for spring gardening projects to begin. The cost of enrolling in Mississippi’s Master Gardener program is $100.

REVIVAL AT ANTIOCH

A high-energy revival and  a powerful time of worship and a spirt rejuvenating message will be presented each night during revival at  Antioch Baptist Church at House.

Dr. Dan Lanier will be there on Sunday, Feb. Feb 11 at 7 p.m.; James Young on Sunday, Feb. 18 at  7 p.m.; and Phillip Gandy on Sunday,  Feb 25 at  7 p.m.

FREE INCOME TAX PREPARATION PROGRAM

The United Way of East Mississippi’s free income tax preparation program will begin Feb. 5.

The Income Tax Preparation Program (ITPP) is designed to promote and support free tax preparation to individuals/households with an annual income less than $54,000.  

Tax prep will begin Monday, Feb. 5 and run thru Monday, April 16.

Income Tax Prep services are available at the United Way of East Mississippi office located at 4817 North Park Drive, Meridian, MS 39305.

 There is no charge to have your taxes prepared and e-filed.  Tax Prep is by appointment only so please call 601-693-2732.





AARP Tax-Aide

AARP Tax-Aide will begin free e-filing, Monday, Feb. 5 at the Neshoba County Library, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. These services will be provided every Monday throughout the tax season.

Private Well Owner Program



Poultry Growers and landowners who depend on private wells for their water needs can benefit from the Private Well-Owner Program, Feb. 20  at 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the  Neshoba County coliseum.  

Private well owners who want to become familiar with septic system and well  maintenance should attend. Private well owners may have their water screened for E.coli bacteria at the time of the program. There is no cost to attend. STEAK SUPPER FUNDRAISER

Indian Springs Assembly of God will be serving a ribeye steak supper Saturday, Feb.  17 beginning at 4 p.m. Suggested donation for steak plates will be $15 and for chicken tenders plates will be $12.
