Political speaking starts today at Fair pavilion

Political speaking gets underway today at 9 a.m. under the pavilion on Founders Square beginning with Circuit Court Judges Vernon Cotten and Marcus Gordon.
Speakers at this year's Fair will also include presidents of East Central Community College, Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi.
The presidents will address Fairgoers this year to promote their colleges, Fair Association Board member Scott Bounds said.
Political speaking will resume on Thursday.
Others scheduled to speak today are state Rep. Scott Bounds, Sen. Giles Ward, Public Service Commissioner Lynn Posey, Transportation Commissioner Dick Hall, Dr. Dan Jones, Chancellor of the University of Mississippi, state Auditor Stacy Pickering, Attorney General Jim Hood and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves.
Speaking on Thursday will be District Attorney Mark Duncan, Chancery Court Judge Joey Kilgore, Commissioner of Agriculture Cindy Hyde-Smith, Commis-sioner of Insurance Mike Chaney, state Treasurer Lynn Fitch, Dr. Billy Stewart, president of East Central Community College, Dr. Mark Keenum, president of Mississippi State University, Speaker of the House Philip Gunn and Gov. Phil Bryant.
Today's Fair schedule also includes the Meridian Day program at 11 a.m. on Founders Square.
Harness and running horse races resume today at 2 p.m.
The Greg Bates Show takes the stage at 8 p.m. at the grandstand.
Fairgoers can dance to music by Class Reunion at the pavilion starting at 9:30 a.m.
