Three candidates qualify for election

One incumbent and two others have qualified as candidates in the May municipal primaries.
Democratic Ward 4 Alderman Cecil Nichols qualified for re-election.
He will face at least one challenger as Rudolph Tatum, a Democrat, who also qualified for Ward 4 alderman.
Philadelphia businessman Wright Griffis has qualified as a Republican candidate for Ward 2 aldermen.
Incumbent Ward 2 Alderman Roy White and incumbent Ward 1 Alderman Joe Tullos announced earlier that they would be Republican candidates for Mayor in the May election.
Incumbent Mayor James A. Young, a Democrat, has also announced that he would seek a second term.
The municipal party primaries will be May 7, followed by runoffs on May 21 if needed. The general election is June 4.
Candidates have until Friday, March 8 to qualify as candidates in the municipal election.
