A vehicle with a broken passenger side window is being sought in connection with the death of 22-year-old Marquai Kirkland, Philadelphia Police said late Wednesday.

Kirkland's body was found Tuesday evening along a gravel road near Northside Park. He was positively identified about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

"We don't believe this was a random act," Myers said Wednesday morning.

Philadelphia police had put out an alert for a white van Tuesday night, but Myers said they can't be positive what kind of vehicle may have been involved.

The body was found off Parkside Drive by a passerby just before 6 p.m.

A vacant house and trailer are near where the body was found and an occupied dwelling is less than a mile away.

Myers doesn't believe the man had been dead very long.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the state Crime Lab are assisting.

The State Crime Lab helped process the crime scene up until about midnight.

Those who have information should call Crime Stoppers, 1-855-485-8477 (TIPS), Myers aid.

The body was found a quarter mile down Parkside Drive, which is a gravel road just north of Northside Park off old Mississippi 15.

Kirkland, of 424 Evergreen St., was charged in 2013 with the attempted murder of Robert Yarbrough, 37, of 256 Adams St.

Kirkland is charged with shooting Yarbrough one time in the right bicep with an unknown caliber gun as he was trying to enter his home about 10 p.m., police said.

Kirkland's record also extended to burglary. In 2010 he received three indictments for burglary of a motor vehicle.

He began serving six years in July 2010.
