Gerald Allen “Boots” Howell was remembered this week as a great storyteller, musician and inventor and for his stance against the Ku Klux Klan in the 1960s.

Services for Howell, 94, will be Saturday at 4 p.m. from St. Francis Episcopal Church, which he was instrumental in establishing in 1964.
  • Services for Clayburn Lee Jefferson will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at the Tucker Gym with Rev. Mark Patrick officiating.  

    Burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery.  Visitation began at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at the Tucker Gym.
  • Services for Ms. Sharon Marie Isaac Willis were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Shelley Peoples officiating.  Burial was in the Standing Pine Community Cemetery.  

    Visitation began at 4 p.m.  Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Hopewell Baptist Church. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
  • Graveside services for Andrew Lee “Andy” Byers were held Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at 1 p. m. from New Bethel Cemetery in Neshoba County with Rev. Curt Pace officiating.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Byers, 29, of Brandon, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, in Rankin County.
  • Services for Janie Donald Roland were held Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at 3 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jennifer Southall and Rev. Curt Pace officiating.  Burial followed in New Bethel Cemetery in Neshoba County.

    Mrs. Roland, 75, of Jackson, Miss., died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
  • Services for Jeanette Atkinson were held Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at 2 p.m. from Big Oak United Methodist Church in Kemper County with Rev. Ben Jones and Rev. Matt Farmer officiating.  

    Burial was in the church cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
  • Brenda Fay Keller, 63, died at her residence Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016. She lived on the Gulf Coast most of her life, but moved to Union in 2005.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, Cordell and Grace Dobson Anderson; and a brother, Mickey Anderson.
  • Services for Keith Brantley were held Monday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m. from Union United Methodist Church in Union with Rev. Jim Cain officiating.  Burial was in Neshoba Cemetery.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
  • Services for Jean Fryery were held Monday, Nov.  28, 2016, at 1 p. m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Pilgrim officiating.  Burial was in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.

    McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
  • Services for Mrs. Gertrude Overstreet will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at 2 p.m. from Way of Christ Apostolic Church with Bishop James Calhoun officiating. Burial will be at Donald Rest Cemetery. Beck Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Overstreet, 83, died on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
  • Services for Billy Graham will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at 1 p.m. from Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. M.C. Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Donald Rest Cemetery. Beck Funeral Home, Inc is in charge of arrangements.

     Mr. Graham, 66, died on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 ,at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
