Services for Melvin Wolverton were Tuesday, Feb.  27, 2018, at 2 p.m. from First United Pentecostal Church of Philadelphia with Rev. Tim Vowell, Rev. Jason Martin and Rev. Albert Reid officiating.  

Burial followed in Henry’s Chapel Cemetery.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wolverton, 88, of Philadelphia, Miss., died Feb. 25, 2018.

A native of Sebastopol, Miss., he lived in Jackson most of his adult life where he retired from Siemens Industry in Richland in 1992.  

Mr. Wolverton was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Philadelphia.  He served in the U. S. Army.

Survivors include wife, Shirley Wolverton; stepdaughters, Lisa Williamson and Mary Ann Davis; stepson, Mike Evans; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald and Larry Wolverton; sisters, Audele Dodson and Lynda Moorehead.

Mr. Wolverton was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Matilda Wolverton; brothers, Junior and Charles Wolverton.
