The Leake Academy girls went 3-0 in the Simpson Academy tournament as they improved to 15-3 on the season.

The Lady Rebels defeated previously undefeated Puckett 69-49 in the first game. Sydni Tangle led with 16 points and Bailey Breedlove scored 12.

The Lady Rebels then bested Taylorsville 69-36. Clancy Scott led with 14 points.

Leake Academy closed out the tournament with a 61-34 win over Collins. Tangle led with 12 points.

“We don’t get a chance to play public schools very often. I was really pleased with the week, especially the win over Puckett,” said Coach Amanda Hatch. “They were 12-0 coming into the tournament. We practiced once before the tournament and we came in really focused.”

The Leake Academy boys went 1-2 in the Simpson tournament.

They opened the tournament with a 74-44 win over the Jackson Victors. Keric Estep led with 27 points while Will-Lawson Harkins added 16.

The Rebels then lost a 72-65 decision to Taylorsville. Estep scored 40 point in that effort and Harkins added 10.

The Rebels then lost a 58-54 decision to Magee. Estep finished with 22 points.

Leake Academy will host Heritage on Friday and travel to Madison-Ridgeland Academy on Saturday. They will visit Columbia on Monday in a make-up game and then travel to Winston Academy on Tuesday.
