The Leake Academy boys have started their basketball season with a 4-1 record as they head into the Thanksgiving holidays.

The Rebels started the week with a 76-38 loss to Jackson Academy. They rebounded to defeat Oak Hill Academy 62-51 and Kirk Academy 44-40.

Jackson Academy outmatched the Rebels as it took a 41-20 halftime lead. Will Lawson Harkins led the Rebels with eight points.

Against Oak Hill, the Rebels trailed 12-10 at the end of the first quarter. The Rebels would come back to outscore Oak Hill 14-9 in the second quarter and led 24-21 at the half. Both teams scored 17 points in the third quarter. The Rebels would outscore Oak Hill 21-11 in the fourth quarter to take the win.

Will Watkins led the Rebels with 19 points and Keric Estep added 15.

The Rebels then took their second win of the season over Kirk Academy. Daniel Young led with 14 points while Harkins added 12 and Estep scored 10.

 

Lady Rebels

Leake Academy went 1-2 in last week’s girls basketball action.

The Lady Rebels opened the week with a 46-43 loss to Jackson Academy. They bounced back to blow out Oak Hill 63-26. But then the Lady Rebels dropped a 54-42 loss at Kirk Academy.

Sydni Tangle led the Lady Rebels with 12 points in their loss to Jackson Academy. Clancy Scott added 11 points.

The Lady Rebels went up 32-10 in their win over Oak Hill. They put in 21 points in the third quarter as they pulled away. Tangle led with 20 points and Molly Davis added 15.

Leading 37-36 heading into the fourth quarter, Kirk Academy outpointed the Lady Rebels 18-8 in the final eight minutes of play to take the victory. Tangle led the Lady Rebels with 18 points.

The Rebel teams don’t play during the Thanksgiving holidays. They swing back into action November 28 when they host Simpson Academy.
