The Neshoba Central baseball team swept a pair of Region 3-5A victories past the Canton Tigers last week to improve their district record to 3-2.

The Rockets went 2-1 last week, beating Canton twice and losing to Kosciusko. They are slated to play three games this week as they visit Germantown on Tuesday, Ridgeland on Friday, and then play at Meridian on Saturday.

"We have two big region games this week and we need to be playing at our best," Coach Justin Stovall said. "It's a big week for us."

The Rockets entered the week with a 9-7 record.

Canton 1

The Rockets took the early lead and never looked back in this one.

Neshoba Central scored one in the first, two in the second, one in the fifth, four in the sixth and one in the seventh. Canton scored its run in the sixth inning.

Ryan Montgomery was the winning pitcher. He recorded five strikeouts.

Brady Stephenson led with a double while Preston Anderson, Tristan Ellingburg and Sammy Singleton all hit a single.

The Rockets banged out 11 hits as they rolled over Canton.

Neshoba Central scored one in the first, one in the second, 11 in the third and four in the fourth. Canton scored two in the first and two in the fifth.

Stephenson was the winning pitcher. He had six strikeouts.

Austin Harrison finished with a triple and a single and two RBIs. Brandon Clark added a double and a single with two RBIs while Anderson hit two singles.

Kosciusko 3

Neshoba Central 0

The Whippets went up 3-0 in the first inning and neither team scored again.

Montgomery took the pitching loss.

Taylor Irby, Harrison, Clark ab and Barrett Ramia all had one hit.
