Summer season ends for Xplosion

Xplosion wrapped up its summer seasons without a hit.
The girls traveling fast-pitch softball team, based in Philadelphia, was to play in the Big Orange College Exposure Tournament which was to be hosted in Knoxville, Tenn., by the University of Tennessee. But the weekend was rained out and the softball trip turned into a sight-seeing trip for the team in neighboring locations.
"We got a text early Saturday morning, saying that all games had been rained out," said Coach Craig Martin. "And then it rained all night and the fields were unplayable so they cancelled the tournament.
"We don't have any other games scheduled for this summer. Our girls will start getting ready for school ball."
Xplosion finished the summer with an overall record of 21-8 and three tournament championships. That was highlighted by a first place finish in the Oklahoma City tournament and a strong showing in the Tuscaloosa tournament.
"We had a good season," Martin said. "We could have played one more tournament this weekend but we decided to come home. We may try to play some after school ball is overall."
