The Union Yellowjacket baseball team is coming off a busy week after losing three-of-four games.

The Yellowjackets started the week with a 7-3 loss to Northeast Lauderdale. On Friday, Newton County avenged an earlier loss as the Cougars beat Union 8-0. Union came back in its tournament to defeat Choctaw Central 7-1. They then dropped a 7-3 loss to Morton.

Cameron Sones had a productive week. He hit a triple, a double, three singles and four RBIs.

The Yellowjackets have three games scheduled for this week. They were to host Stringer on Tuesday and visit the Red Devils on Friday. Union hosts Enterprise on Saturday.

Union outhit the Trojans in a losing cause.

The Trojans scored three in the first, one in the second and three in the third. Union answered with one in the second and two in the sixth.

Sones led the Yellowjackets with a triple and a single while Casey Morris hit a double. Lane Hanna and Michael McDonald both hit singles.

J.T. Vance took the pitching loss.

The Cougars outhit Union 8-2 as they avenged an earlier loss to the Yellowjackets.

Newton County scored two in the first, three in the third and three in the fourth.

Jaylon Buckley took the pitching loss.

Sones had two hits.

Choctaw Central 1

Austin Tate struck out five batters to earn the victory as he pitched the Yellowjackets past Choctaw Central.

The Yellowjackets scored one in the first, three in the third and three in the fourth. Choctaw Central scored its run in the sixth inning.

Morris led the Yellowjackets with two hits. Sones hit a double and brought in two runs. Hanna and Michael McDonald both hit a single.

The Morton Panthers scored three runs in the seventh as they pulled away from the Yellowjackets.

Union scored one in the first, one in the third and one in the sixth. The Panthers scored one in the first, three in the fourth and three in the seventh.

Morton outhit the Yellowjackets 9-4. J.T. Vance hit a double while Trevor Patchin, Buckley and Vance all hit a single.

Hanna was the losing pitcher.
