Neshoba County saw its unemployment rate dip to 9.9 percent in June after posting a double-digit jobless rate the previous month.
The county's June rate was only one-tenth of a percentage point higher than the state's jobless rate of 9.8 percent. The national rate rose to 9.7 percent in June, an increase over the 9.1 percent reported in May.
The number of unemployed persons in the county dropped from 1,450 in May to 1,370 in June.
The county's total workforce was at 13,870 in June.
Neshoba tied with Pontotoc and Warren counties in posting the 26th lowest rate out of the state's 82 counties.
June saw only 25 counties in Mississippi posting unemployment rates less than or equal to the state's rate of 9.8 percent.
Rankin County had the lowest rate at 6.2 percent followed by Lamar County at 6.9 percent.
Fifty-four counties reported double-digit rates for the month with seven counties reporting rates greater than 15 percent. Jefferson County posted the highest unemployment rate for the month at 20 percent.
