Louisville native and Mississippi State Football Signee Dennis Thames was arrested here on Saturday, May 30 at 3:30 a.m. and charged with public intoxication, according to a Philadelphia Police Department incident report.
Thames, a 2009 graduate of Louisville High School, signed with the Bulldogs in February.
According to the report, Thames was one of three black males in a blue Suzuki that approached a checkpoint in Philadelphia early Saturday morning. The officer stated he smelled a scent of what he believed to be marijuana coming from the car. After talking with Thames, the officer said Thames admitted to "smoking a blunt."
The athlete was then arrested and transported to the Neshoba County Jail and released on $100.
