The Xplosion rolled through two days of tournament softball action to claim first place in the Summer Slamfest which was held in Meridian at the Sammie Davison Complex.
The Xplosion went 6-0 and outscored their opponents 70-14 in the tournament. This is the second tournament championship of the summer for the Xplosion.
"Last year, we took our lumps," Coach Craig Martin said. "But this year, we are really playing well. What makes this team so strong is that the bottom half of the lineup hits and scores just as many runs as the top half. I am really proud of these girls."
The Xplosion started with 18-5 win over the Choctaw Bandits Hannah Hall was the winning pitcher.
The Philadelphia team then took out the Southern Rage 17-1. Mag Martin took the victory.
A 7-3 win over the Choctaw Finest kept the Xplosion undefeated. McKenzie Johnson was the winning pitcher.
The Xplosion then defeated the Southern Hurricanes from Hattiesburg 11-1. Johnson was the winning pitcher.
The Xplosion then kept rolling with an 8-3 win over the Tuscaloosa Titians.
The Xplosion played the Southern Hurricanes again, this time for the tournament championship, and captured an 8-2 victory.
The Xplosion will be off next weekend but will return to action June 20 with a tournament in Clinton. They will play in the USFA Tournament in Meridian on the weekend of July 4, and will follow that with the Dizzy Dean South State Tournament in Houston on July 10.
