Wednesday, April 22, 2009

A Philadelphia man is wanted in connection with a strong armed robbery which occurred Monday afternoon inside the Neshoba Baptist Center on Valley View Drive.

Dawaskai Anderson, 29, of 816 Chestnut St., is being sought after he allegedly threw an employee onto the floor inside the Baptist Center and stole her purse, Chief of Police Dickie Sistrunk said.

The woman told authorities that a black male wearing a white zip-up sweater shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap came inside the front door of the center shortly after noon with a basket of clothing, he said, he wanted to donate.

Once inside, the man placed the basket on the floor, then grabbed the woman by the hair, snatched her purse from her shoulder and threw her down, Sistrunk said.

The man ran out the front door and left traveling north on Valley View Drive in a two-door silver Pontiac G6 without a tag.

Left behind in the basket of clothing was a notebook with Anderson's name written on the cover, Sistrunk said.

During the subsequent investigation, Anderson was connected to the car which at one point had a Virginia license plate, he said.

The black purse with tan stripes contained five credit cards.

Anderson has been listed as wanted over the National Crime Information Center.

Persons with information as to his whereabouts were asked to call police at 601-656-2131.
