Class of ‘64 holds reunion

Number 60 is complete for the Philly Class of ’64, and thank you, Lord, for this precious and memorable opportunity.

Twenty-seven Philadelphia High School graduates plus assorted spouses gathered over the weekend beginning with Friday lunch at City Limits—I sped in from Atlanta just in time! That evening we had a meet and greet at the Golden Moon, hosted by Don and Rita DeWeese, followed by dinner at Philip M’s for those who could stay.

Saturday began with lunch at Old Mexico, followed by a special tour of our beloved Ellis Theatre—now a multimillion-dollar music venue—where we fondly recalled that 25 cents gained us not only admission, but also a soft drink, candy, AND popcorn.

Saturday evening, we dined at the historic Depot with our “honorary classmate” D.J. Allen Hardy providing our favorite ’60s tunes.

There are no words to express how much our classmates mean to us and how grateful we are to have sustained friendships with one another through all these years. And, yes, this one was particularly bittersweet as we missed those unable to travel and the 21 we have lost over the years, forever ingrained upon our hearts and in our memories.

We especially want to thank all those who worked behind the scenes to make this weekend so special. What a blessing you were, #60.
