County pair arrested for selling meth out of trailer
A man and a woman were arrested on June 22 near Mars Hill on a tip that they were selling methamphetamine out of their trailer.
Charles Ray, 54, and Alicia G. Shelton, 59, were arrested and charged with drug trafficking, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark. He said both suspects were also wanted for outstanding fines.
Clark said the duo came on their radar when an anonymous tip from Crime Stoppers said they were selling drugs out of a trailer at 10601 Road 187 in the far northern part of the county.
Clark said the address is the last address in the county on that road and is about half a mile from the Winston County line.
“This is a very rural area in the northernmost part of the county,” Clark said.
Clark said the tip warned that Shelton and Ray could try to flee into the woods.
Deputies surrounded the property around 1 p.m. and arrested both Shelton and Ray without incident.
A search of the trailer produced more than an ounce of crystal methamphetamine.
“We want people to know that if they see something and say something, we will try to act on the information they give us,” Clark said.
