Dearman services set for today
Carolyn M. Dearman, the widow of former The Neshoba Democrat Editor and Publisher Stanley Dearman and the former associate publisher of the Democrat, has died. She was 91.
Graveside services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at Cedarlawn Cemetery, with Dr. Dan Howard officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. today at McClain-Hays until departure time.
Carolyn Majure Dearman of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully at Bay Port Assisted Living in Fort Walton Beach with her daughter by her side.
Dearman was born in Madden, Mississippi, and grew up in Neshoba County. She graduated from Philadelphia High School and held the honors of Miss PHS, head cheerleader, and all-state basketball player. Carolyn attended MUW and graduated from MSU with a degree in elementary education.
She taught school in DeKalb County, Georgia, for several years before returning to Philadelphia. This is where she met the love of her life, Stanley Dearman, and they shared 42 years of wedded bliss until he died in 2017. During their marriage, she assisted him at The Neshoba Democrat as the advertising manager and was the associate publisher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Philadelphia.
Dearman is survived by her daughter, Lisa Daniels, Fort Walton Beach, Florida; her son Leigh (Debbie) Barrett; grandchildren, Curtis (Elise) Barrett, Travis Barrett, Dana Daniels-Bowen (Michael), Nick Daniels; great-grandchildren, Mason, Maggie, Julia, Jagger, Heidi, Amelia, and Fiona; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Dearman; her parents, Herbert and Dollie Parkes Majure; her brothers, Dewitt Majure and Harlan Majure; a daughter, Leslie Carol Barrett; and granddaughter, Andra K. Daniels.
The family wishes to thank Bay Port Assisted Living/Memory Care and Gentiva Hospice for the kindness and special care they provided for our “Granny.”
