A Neshoba County man was arrested for stealing property and being in possession of drugs.

The man, Jonathan Clint Daniels, 40, 10815 Road 779, was arrested and charged with the sale of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana in a vehicle, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

Clark said he expects Daniels to face larceny charges as the investigation continues.

Daniel remains in the Neshoba County Detention Center on $34,700 in bond, according to jail records.

Deputies were called to the Golden Moon Casino on April 19 at about 2:45 a.m. on a call that casino security had made contact with a man suspected of stealing various power tools from a trailer in the casino parking lot.

Clark said the theft was reported earlier on Wednesday, April 18. While in the process of evicting Daniels from the hotel and arresting him, casino security and Sheriff’s Deputies found “a large amount” of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on a bedside table in his hotel room.

According to Clark, law enforcement and casino security saw Daniels bring his truck up beside a trailer in the casino parking lot on Wednesday. He reportedly removed a pole saw, a miter saw and other power tools from the trailer and local authorities believe he pawned the items in Carthage.

Daniels was identified by casino security at about 2:30 a.m. and was detained. Casino officials then made contact with the Neshoba County Sheriff”s Office.

Daniels will also likely face charges of false pretense with the Carthage Police Department, Clark said.

He said they had also impounded Daniels’s truck.

A woman was seen with Daniels during his time at the Golden Moon, Clark said, but authorities have yet to identify her and are unsure if she is involved in any of the crimes Daniels allegedly committed.

Anyone with information on this or any other potential crime is encouraged to call East Mississippi Crimestoppers at (855) 485-TIPS or the NCSO at (601) 656-1414.
