A trio was arrested after crystal methamphetamine was found during a traffic checkpoint last month on Highway 19 South at Tucker.

The driver, Shania A. Willis, 27, 426 Black Jack Road, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

The passengers, Matthew T. Bell, 35, 349 South Oswald Road, and Byron McMillian, 30, 114 Tucker Cut Off Road, both had warrants for their arrest, Clark said.

The trio was arrested at about 11 p.m. on Feb. 18 at a traffic checkpoint near the intersection with Road 537.

Willis was driving a black Toyota Corolla with no driver’s license or identification when deputies first encountered them.

While talking to the driver, deputies noticed passengers were trying to conceal something in the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle found scales and a bag of crystal methamphetamine.

Clark said Willis claimed the drugs.
