East Central’s Encore Players host new play
East Central Community College’s Encore Players will present a Fall Dinner Theater production of “Death by Dessert,” a mystery comedy in two acts.
This hilarious whodunit is set to entertain audiences with a delightful blend of mystery, humor, and a dash of Italian flavor.
The performances will take place at the Mabry Cafeteria on the ECCC campus in Decatur, with showtimes on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9, at both 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. Each performance will feature a meal, adding to the evening’s enjoyment.
Written by Nathan Hartswick, “Death by Dessert” transports audiences to the heart of Little Italy, where two rival families—the notorious Pompalones and the fastidious Donnaducis—have been feuding for decades.
When a landlord mysteriously turns up dead, everyone in the rival restaurants becomes a suspect. Packed with twists, mistaken identities, and unexpected surprises, this fast-paced comedy keeps the audience guessing—and laughing—until the very last bite.
The production, led by second-year director Gene Cliburn, promises to be a fun-filled event for families and theater lovers alike.
“This production is perfect for anyone who enjoys a good laugh while trying to solve a lighthearted mystery,” Cliburn said. “Our cast has worked incredibly hard to bring this story to life, and we can’t wait to share it with the community.”
