Pfc. Lee R. Watkins has been reported missing in action since Sept. 19 over Holland. He was in a glider Battalion. Pfc. Watkins is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Watkins of Dixon, Route 1, residing in Madden community.

Miss Carolyn Leslie, lovely 17 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Leslie, will be crowned football queen at the Harpole Stadium Friday night, Nov. 5. Carolyn is very much a favorite with her fellow students.

One of the largest bobcats and one of the largest rattle snakes were brought by the Democrat office last Friday. The bobcat was killed by Arvis Matthews of Clinton, whose father, R.C. Matthews, lives at Dixon in Neshoba County.

A demonstration lecture program, titled "This Atomic World," will be presented in an assembly program at Neshoba County High School on Nov. 6 and Philadelphia High School on Nov. 7. The program, sponsored by the United States Atomic Energy Commission, is presented by the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies, Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Grand opening ceremonies will be held at the new office building of Bankers Trust Savings and Loan, corner Main and Poplar, Friday, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The ribbon cutting ceremony will include comments by Mayor Alan King.

Smith County Circuit Judge J. W. Walker has ruled that a suit to determine who owns $100,000 taken from the account of the Neshoba County Nursing Home in May may be brought to Neshoba County for trial.

Weyerhaeuser Co. will close its Philadelphia, large-log bandmill effective Nov. 2, and immediately increase lumber production in its Chip-N-Saw operation by adding a third shift, Ron Endicott, Philadelphia district manager, announced today.

The Neshoba Central High School Band attended the Region III Marching Contest at Meridian High School. The band competed in Division 4A and was rated in four major categories. All graded areas were rated superior including over-all band, flags, rifles, percussion, and drum major.

A light morning drizzle, ominous black clouds and, in some cases, long lines greeted voters as the polls opened Tuesday morning in Neshoba County. With election officials predicting a record turnout, voters crowded to precincts as they opened at 7 a.m.
