A pedestrian struck in a hit-and-run on Beacon Street Sunday evening remains in the hospital.

The pedestrian has been identified as Lonnie Hearn, 37, of Philadelphia, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons.

He said Hearn remains in the hospital at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in “serious condition.”

Investigators are working to identify the driver who hit him, Lyons said. The accident is still under investigation.

At about 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27, PPD responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Beacon Street near Lewis Avenue.

“We believe that Hearn was crossing the street on Beacon when he was struck,’ Lyons said.

According to Lyons, Hearn was transported to Neshoba General and later to UMMC.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident or any other crime is encouraged to call the Philadelphia Police Department at (601) 656-2131 or East Mississippi Crimestoppers at (855) 485-TIPS.
