When the parking lot stripes at East Philadelphia Baptist Church need repainting and the budget is not robust enough to have it repainted, what can be done? Paint them with volunteer painters, as Harold Anderson explained. Problem solved.

One morning last week, a small group of volunteers gathered in the church parking to assess the situation and begin work.  One member blew the lot clean with a leaf blower, while two others mixed paint and filled the canister with a borrowed striping machine. Once a section was clean, visible lines of the old lines were used to repaint them. Using blue paint and using brushes, others redid the blue stripes and ADA emblems on parking spaces for the handicapped. By noon, the lot was repainted with bright new stripes. Since the paint was donated and the labor was free, the entire job cost the church nothing! This is an example of how EPBC were stewards of God's resources. Volunteers were Keith Gaines, Jerry Brantley, Ken Wright, Brandon Bennett, and Harold Anderson. Great job!

Philadelphia School showed up and showed out for the "Real Men Wear Pink" Breast Cancer Walk, 2024! It was an incredible morning with such a great crowd participating! Many thanks to everyone who walked and made this a wonderful event that helped raise awareness of this dreadful disease that knows no boundaries.

"Pumpkin Palooza" was a huge success! First graders at Philadelphia Elementary School did an amazing job on the Pumpkin Disguise project! Each pumpkin was transformed into a favorite storybook character with the book title and name of the character attached. There were cats, wizards, magical pumpkins, and many more unique disguises. This project combined reading with art, which was a winning combination for the first graders! What a creative idea! Thank you to everyone who helped!

Last Wednesday night was a special one for Catherine Hicks. She spent the evening at the Delta Gamma sorority house at MSU where Hattie Hicks was receiving her pledge pin.

Catherine was so happy to see that Hattie was making friends in Delta Gamma just as she herself had done years ago. She also had the honor of pinning Hattie's pledge pin on her. This was a truly special event. College years are those in which many memories are made, and Catherine anticipates many happy ones.
