Lady Yellowjackets rebound with 3 wins on the softball field

After losing two of three games to start the season, the Union Lady Yellowjackets won three straight games last week.

Union, now 4-2 on the season, will return to action this week as they travel to Newton County on Monday. Union will then open division play on Tuesday as they play a doubleheader at J.Z. George. Union will finish the week at Enterprise. 

Union 17, Kemper County 0

The Lady Yellowjackets didn’t allow a hit as they took a three-inning, run-rule win over the Lady Wildcats on Tuesday. 

Union outhit Kemper 13-8 in the contest and took advantage of eight errors, three walks and two hit batters. Lauryn Roebuck was 3-for-4 with a triple, home run and two runs scored. Lacee Bishop was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and three RBIs while Carson Capps was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Elle Killen was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Aspen Lovern had a three-run home run while Tiara Campbell was 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Alanee Wheeler doubled, walked twice and scored twice while Maggie Davis also doubled. Destiny Moulds also scored two runs for Union.

Wheeler started in the circle and pitched 1 1/3 innings and struck out three to pick up the win. Aubrie Coleman pitched 2/3 of an inning and walked one and struck out one. 

Union 3, Harrison Central 2

The Lady Yellowjackets got the timely hits and took a one-run win over Harrison on Saturday. 

Destiny Moulds was 2-for-4 and scored a run while Alanee Wheeler doubled and drove in a run. Abagail Cleveland and Lauryn Roebuck each singled and drove in a run while Carson Capps and Tiara Campbell each scored a run. 

Wheeler pitched all eight innings for Union to pick up the win. Wheeler gave up two unearned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out a season-high 15 batters. 

Union 15, Taylorsville 0

Lauryn Roebuck was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs while Tiara Campbell was 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored. 

Abigail Cleveland started in the circle and scattered three hits while striking out three to pick up the win.
