A Neshoba County man was arrested on meth and marijuana charges after he led authorities on a high-speed chase through town that started near Williams Brothers and ended on Carver Avenue.

The man, Andre T. Wilson, 58, 1680 Road 739, was arrested and charged with felony fleeing, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia, Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons said.

According to Lyons, on Thursday, July 25, at about 10:30 p.m., PPD officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a red Chevy Camaro driven by Lewis on Williamsville Road near the store.

“The vehicle failed to stop and began to flee from the officers traveling nearly 100 miles an hour on Lakeside Drive,” Lyons said.

The suspect vehicle then traveled onto Lewis Avenue into the neighborhoods off of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Lyons said officers were finally able to box the vehicle in and get it stopped near Carver Avenue and Lewis was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers recovered methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, Lyons said.

Wilson was transported to the Winston County Jail where Philadelphia contracts to house prisoners.
