A Neshoba County man was arrested for allegedly attacking a woman with a chainsaw and a baseball bat last week.

The man, John Thomas Harvey, 45, 11601 Marty Stewart Drive, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons.

On Friday, April 25, at about 11:45 p.m., PPD responded to a residence on Road 2612 near Northside Park off Old Highway 15, where a reported assault with injuries had occurred.

Officers found a female victim with lacerations on her arms, Lyons said.

Investigators learned the victim had argued with Harvey. Lyons said the argument escalated, and Harvey allegedly attacked the woman using both a bat and a chainsaw. Lyons said this resulted in the cuts to the female’s arm.

The victim was transported to Neshoba General, where she received about 25 staples to close the wounds.

Lyons said his officers were assisted by Neshoba County Sheriff’s deputies who went to a known location of Harvey’s in the county and arrested him on aggravated assault charges.

Harvey remains in the Leake County Detention Center, where the city houses prisoners.
