Man leads police on chase in stolen truck
A Conehatta man was arrested early Thursday morning after leading authorities on a high-speed chase through the county in a stolen truck the previous evening.
The man, Alajandro Frazier, 37, was arrested and charged with felony fleeing, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.
Frazier also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court and will face additional charges related to the stolen vehicle.
The incident began Wednesday evening after a Toyota truck, reported stolen earlier that day in Philadelphia, was detected by a license plate reader on Highway 16 West at about 9 p.m., Clark said.
A deputy spotted the vehicle near the Oswald Road intersection and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
According to Clark, the driver fled south on Oswald Road at a high rate of speed. During the chase, a passenger exited the vehicle and was later detained. The passenger, who has not been charged, assisted authorities in identifying Frazier as the driver.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol took the lead in the pursuit, which ended when the truck crashed while attempting to turn onto Road 153. Frazier then fled on foot into a wooded area.
A multi-agency search involving the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office, MHP, and Choctaw Police was unable to locate Frazier Wednesday night.
Authorities received a tip shortly after midnight on Thursday that Frazier had been seen at a residence on Valley View Drive. He was arrested in a back bedroom of the home without incident, Clark said.
