Mayor-elect Fulton shares vision for city
Consistent planning, collaboration, and community investment will be hallmarks of Mayor-elect Jim Fulton’s administration.
Current Ward 2 Alderman Jim Fulton, a Republican, was elected mayor of Philadelphia last Tuesday, defeating his Democrat challenger with 51.44 percent of the vote.
Upon his election, Fulton said, “As we look forward to the future of Philadelphia, I am filled with hope and a strong commitment to continue the positive progress our city has been making. It is a privilege to serve the people of Philadelphia and to work alongside the new board of aldermen.”
He continued, “With two experienced aldermen and myself returning, we already have important continuity. These members are familiar with the projects and initiatives currently underway, which will help us maintain steady progress for all the wards and departments across the city.”
Fulton said the city has several important projects underway that will improve the city for years to come, like the box culvert on Hospital Road, the Blount Street bridge replacement, and the sidewalk repairs across Main Street from the main branch of Citizens Bank.
“While many paving and other infrastructure improvements have been completed in the past, we remain focused on continuing these efforts into the future to serve all wards and departments across the city,” Fulton said.
“During my three terms as Alderman of Ward 2, I have seen firsthand the value of consistent planning, collaboration, and community investment,” he added. “In addition to these projects, I remain committed to working closely with the Vision Neshoba committee.
“This partnership is vital as we align the efforts of the city, county, and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians under one strategic plan that supports a brighter future for everyone who calls this community home.”
Fulton encourages every citizen to take pride in their property and businesses, maintain clean, well-groomed lawns, and keep the appearance of homes and businesses to a high standard to help create a welcoming environment for everyone.
“Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our Fair City,” he said.
Fulton will officially take office on July 1.
