Miller appointed battalion command sergeant major
Philadelphia native Miquel D. Miller was appointed as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major (CSM) for the 150th Brigade Engineer Battalion in Meridian on Oct. 1. This battalion is part of the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team headquartered in Tupelo.
CSM Miller enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard in July 2001 and completed his Combat Engineer (12B) One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, in February of the following year.
Throughout his distinguished career, CSM Miller has held various assignments including HHC 150th Combat Engineer Battalion in Meridian (Forward in Iraq), CO B 155th Brigade Special Troops Battalion in Meridian, HHC (-) 155th Brigade Combat Team in Tupelo (Forward in Iraq), HHC 168th Engineer Brigade in Vicksburg (Forward in Kuwait), CO C 155th Brigade Special Troops Battalion in Columbia, CO A 150th Brigade Engineer Battalion in Columbia, and CO C 150th Brigade Engineer Battalion (Support) in Columbus (Forward in Kuwait).
His deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Spartan Shield/Inherent Resolve.
CSM Miller has served in several leadership positions, including Combat Engineer Team Leader, Signal Squad Leader, Signal Platoon Sergeant, Engineer First Sergeant, Signal First Sergeant, and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major.
CSM Miller’s awards and decorations reflect his dedication and exemplary service. Among them are the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (4th Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Army Meritorious Unit Citation (2nd Award), Navy Unit Commendation, Iraqi Campaign Medal (4th Award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, MS National Guard Medal of Efficiency, MS Longevity Medal (5th Award), Combat Activation Badge, and Driver/Mechanic Badge.

Miller is married to the former Jacentha Latress Hammond of Sumrall. They have four children: Baliegh V. Miller, 22, Miquel T. Miller,15, Masiah N. Martin,11, and Jase L. Miller,2. He is the son of Mary Davis.
