Deputies will crack down on underage drinking at the Neshoba County Fairgrounds this weekend.

Deputies will have an increased presence in the area of the Fairgrounds over the July 4 weekend, Sheriff Eric Clark confirmed.

“Due to recent reports from Neshoba County Fair cabin owners, the Neshoba County Sheriff's Office will increase patrol intensity in and around the NCF this upcoming holiday weekend,” Clark said.

The recent complaints derive from cabin owners witnessing "underaged drinkers, getting out of their trucks with unopened 12 packs of beer, parking in the area and congregating in large numbers,” Clark said.

“The Neshoba County Sheriff's Office refuses to turn a blind eye to these complaints," Clark said.

Last weekend, agents with Alcohol Beverage Control, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and Neshoba deputies worked the roadways leading to the NCF, Clark said.

Clark said that between those agencies, six minor in possession of alcohol citations and four minor in possession of vape citations were issued by law enforcement in the area.

Sheriff's deputies also patrolled the NCF property and issued four additional minor in possession of alcohol citations.

Neshoba County Justice Court staff stated that the fine for Minor in Possession of Alcohol is $411.00 and Minor in Possession of Vapes or Tobacco products is $211.00, Clark said.

Neshoba County Fair Association policies state:

A responsible adult (21 Yrs or older) will oversee and be physically present at their cabin when any off-season entertainment is conducted at a NCF Cabin.

All loud noises and amplified music must end at midnight during the off-season.

"As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, I want to take a moment to remind the residents of Neshoba County to enjoy the holiday safely, respectfully, and within the law," Clark said.
