Two Union men have been arrested and charged with drug trafficking after they were pulled over on Highway 16 east of the Pearl River Resort late Sunday morning.

The driver, Otis George McDougle, 49, 100 E. Spinks Road, was arrested and charged with trafficking of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana in a vehicle, Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said.

Clark said the passenger, Johnny Terrell Wash, 56, 7116 Highway 492, was also arrested and charged with trafficking of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana in a vehicle.

Deputies encountered the two when they pulled over a white Nissan Centra with expired tags at the Shell Station east of the casinos off of Highway 16 around 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, Clark said. He said the pair said they were headed to the Golden Moon Casino.

According to Clark the deputy smelled marijuana and could see debris of what is believed to be marijuana on the floorboard.

A search of the vehicle found a clear plastic bag on the floor behind the center console of the vehicle that contained a small amount of marijuana and about 45 dosage units of what is believed to be ecstasy pills. The pills have been sent off for testing.
