Parents arrested with drug stash, kids in the car
A man and wife were arrested on drug charges after they were pulled over with their kids and a stash of drugs in their car last week.
The driver, Robert Munn, 34, 10168 Road 365, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (other substances), possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in a vehicle, and possession of paraphernalia, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.
His wife, Kayla Diane Munn, 34, 1111 Pleasant Valley Road, Decatur, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in a vehicle, and possession of paraphernalia, according to Clark. He said Diane Munn also had a warrant for her arrest.
Robert Munn’s sister, who was in the back seat, Megan M. Munn, 32, 10410 Road 428, Union, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Deputies first encountered the Munns during a safety checkpoint on Road 325 in the Lynwood community on Aug. 1 at about 8 p.m. At that item, Clark said a black Hyundai Senata driven by Robert Munn pulled up to the safety checkpoint.
The vehicle reportedly “reeked of marijuana” and had two kids in the vehicle, Robert and Diane Munn’s 4-year-old and 6-year-old.
Clark said they said they had just picked up Robert Munn’s sister, Megan, to babysit for the evening.
Deputies quickly determined Kayla Munn had a warrant for her arrest.
A search of each adult revealed small bags of marijuana on those charged.
A search of the vehicle revealed a cigarette box with a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine inside.
Robert and Diane Munn were arrested on felony drug charges, and Megan Munn’s charges were misdemeanors, Clark said. A family member was called to the scene to pick up the two children.
All three adults had posted bond as of Aug. 3.
