Former Philadelphia high school quarterback Marcus Beamon was named the NorCal conference MVP at the junior college level for Butte College.

Beamon finished his sophomore season with 1,864 passing yards, 316 rushing yards, and 31 passing touchdowns to only four interceptions for the entire year.

He has led Butte to a 9-1 season so far, with that one loss being a one-point loss in overtime during conference play. Beamon and the Butte College football team will wrap up their season this Saturday in the Gridiron Classic Bowl.

He also set the single season record for touchdown passes and tied the record for passing touchdowns in a game. That puts Beamon in elite company, as that record he tied for touchdown passes in a game was with one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in current New York Jets star Aaron Rodgers, who is one of Butte College’s most famous alumni.

Butte College has produced some great football talent over the years including Aaron Rodgers and his brother Jordan Rodgers, as well as all-pro offensive lineman Larry Allen.

Beamon does have a few offers from four-year universities, including Culver-Stockton College, Bethel University, and Benedict College. Even with these offers, he has not yet committed to a college at this point and is still looking for the right school for his future.

Beamon was a star in his time with the Philadelphia football program, being a key piece of the Tornado offense and was named a Magnolia All-Star in his senior season.

While his future is currently undecided, Beamon is certainly making Philadelphia proud with his success at the next level.
