Suspect sought in armed robbery
A suspect is being sought in the armed robbery of a convenience store on the north side of town last week.
On Friday, Jan. 10, at about 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the Philly Express, 460 Pecan Avenue in the split at Byrd Avenue, to reports of an armed robbery.
A clerk described the suspect as a black male with a ski mask and hunting clothes, according to Police Chief Eric Lyons.
The man entered the store, concealing what the employee thought was a gun underneath his clothing, Lyons said.
He said the male suspect walked behind the counter and took about $1,365 from the cash register.
“The employee stated that while doing so he could then see the gun the robber had and continued to hold his hands up until the robber left,” Lyons said. “Robber then fled the scene in a white SUV with no tag on it in an unknown direction of travel.”
Lyons said investigators are working to recover video evidence from the scene.
“No more information available at this time in this incident,” Lyons wrote in a text message.
