Philadelphia Police are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter taken from a church bus early Monday morning.

The catalytic converter was reportedly taken from a small church bus parked at the Church at the Arc, 138 Lakeside Drive, on March 25 at about 1:20 a.m., according to Police Chief Eric Lyons.

The suspect vehicle involved is a white Hyundai Sonata. Lyons said the tag could not be read based on security camera footage from the church.

Catalytic converters and their scraps can currently sell for between $800 and $1,200, depending on the type and the market at any given time.

“Philadelphia and Neshoba County, please check on your personal vehicles and your work vehicle,” Lyons said.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident or any other crime is encouraged to call the Philadelphia Police Department a call at 601-656-2131 or East Mississippi Crimestoppers at (855) 485-TIPS.
